By linking the NLx data to traditional sources of labor market information, our users have all the data necessary to better analyze labor supply and demand, job quality, economic trends, emerging skills, and more.

This has allowed members of the Research Hub Community to not only enrich the collective research on workforce development, but also to create meaningful signals to employers, training providers, and job seekers to help them understand the local labor markets as they exist today, and alert them to trends shaping the future of work.

By providing users disaggregated job postings in their original form from the National Labor Exchange job feed, users have built robust platforms to provide next-generation career services. These use cases have increased the capacity of state workforce agencies, local workforce boards, and other service providers across the country to conduct improved job matching, increase skills-based hiring, build dynamic real-time career pathways, and assist job seekers with modern resume development and interview preparation.

With API access to real-time data, users have built powerful dashboards, data visualizations, and other tools to help provide actionable insights about the NLx data. These tools have been built in ways that are accessible and valuable to jobseekers, employers, local workforce boards, educational institutions, and policymakers. By unlocking the power of the NLx data, these tools provide the information necessary to all participants of the US labor market to connect all workers to good jobs.

Through our data transparency and open-source methods, the NLx Research Hub and our user community of practice partners with key stakeholders and innovators to advocate for improved methods, innovative practices, and increased adoption of data and job postings standards. This system-level work has led users to build agile occupational taxonomies that reflect up-to-date realities of US jobs, increase awareness around outdated methods of data sharing, and create new practices around online job postings. By increasing the diversity of voices in this work, we are able to build meaningful change in the workforce and education system, and foster true innovation in workforce development.
