We strive to…
Provide and utilize accurate and comprehensive job postings to compile actionable evidence across the workforce and education ecosystem.
We envision…
A community of practitioners, administrators, decision-makers, analysts, and developers with the information they need to connect all workers to good jobs, address critical gaps in labor market information, and help advocate for system-wide advancements in research and policy.
Process
Online job postings provided through the National Labor Exchange (NLx) are the foundation of the Research Hub’s data. Every day, the NLx collects and distributes millions of real job postings from vetted employers, USAJOBS.gov, and state job banks across all 50 states, the U.S. territories, and Washington, D.C.
At the Research Hub, job postings are carefully stored and managed. We supplement with additional data fields and structures so it is ready for research, and provide it back to the community through microdata, tools and analytics.
Offerings
The NLx Research Hub offers a variety of products and services to meet the needs of workforce organizations, researchers, educators, and policymakers.
Data
As the foundation of the NLx Research Hub, we provide access to our real-time and historical job posting microdata.

We provide original insights in the form of ready-made and custom products, which you can explore publicly on our website.
History
The NLx Research Hub launched in 2021 with over a decade of job postings from the daily NLx job feed and the realization that this data could provide valuable information about the labor market – information that is typically difficult to access, expensive, or not transparent about sourcing and methodology. Supported along the way by philanthropic grants, the NLx Research Hub has gone through three distinct phases in its evolution:
Phase I built the foundation for the Research Hub. We created a modern data warehouse and worked with states and researchers to pilot uses for the data.
Phase II publicly launched the Research Hub with state workforce agencies and the research community, invested in technical enhancements, and developed original analytics and data tools.
Phase III continues to grow the Research Hub’s community of users and partners. We are expanding our offerings, planning for the future, and finding new ways to use job posting data and drive innovation.
